clearing the way for surprise gifts

A beautiful birthday present my mom wrapped, at the mermaid-themed party she threw for me four years ago, with the prettiest mermaid cake! 🧜🏼‍♀️

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

-Barack Obama

Following my discoveries and work yesterday, and my from now on intention setting and BEING Manifesto, I was offered a really cool opportunity today, entirely unexpected! And I was approached for it, not the other way around! Not even something I asked for.

It’s still in the works and won’t necessarily happen, and is also something I’m not able to share just yet, but as of now, it’s a possibility and a pursuit. An opportunity. A chance. A creative attempt and collaboration.

Generally, anytime I’ve made a significant internal shift or external realization of something internal, taken a big action, gotten somehow into alignment within myself… anytime something like this happens, I usually find so many more opportunities presenting themselves, and a surprise or two come along like divine gifts. Not to sound too woo woo. But I think this is really important…

We do the work of clearing away, peeling back, unbecoming, removing the roadblocks, un-blinding ourselves, so to speak…

We free up our minds and energetic spaces and openness…

We work on who we are BEING and how we’re showing up, we make some progress forward…

And things start clicking into place.

Once the work of clearing and aligning is begun, the whole world is available to you.

It always has been; it’s always there, waiting, like the Eden Phillpots quote, “The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.”

It is always there. But you (I, we) cannot always see it.

Once you see it, while your wonder switch is flipped on, you can’t un-see it. Be brave enough not to block it off. Be brave enough to step forward, to embrace the flow and alignment, to say Yes, and... Keep following the path. Don’t put your blinders back up. Don’t lock yourself into a role or a comfort bubble, too afraid to see what’s on the other side.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

Once you start seeking — once you start taking responsibility and doing the work of uncovering and stepping boldly into a new story and your next action — the change comes.

It might take a while. (Maybe months of challenge and growth. Maybe years.)

Or it might be even faster than you think. Like the very next day.

Every bit of it is an invitation, an experiment, a chance to say Yes, and…

You’re writing your story! Go, you!

It’s hard and messy work sometimes, but it is the most rewarding. It’s the work through which you can keep coming back to your truest self, and keep building your outer life to be the realest, most beautiful reflection you can imagine of what’s authentically You on the inside.

So keep doing it. Even when you’re in the messy middle. Even when you have to make big discoveries again and again. Even when it’s hard or humbling or sticky.

Messier but better. So much better.
