lizard brain
Here is a piece of really interesting wisdom from Seth Godin’s book Linchpin that I was listening to this week…
He talked about how our lizard brain (our limbic system, the oldest, most survival-based part of our brains) will always win when we feel activated (afraid, defensive, instinctive, primal, protective…), unless we work hard to intentionally put new patterns and habits into place that can consciously overrule the lizard brain.
I am trying to grow the self-awareness I need to notice when my lizard brain and old narratives are keeping me stuck and be willing to get deeper and do the work to unbecome so I can get back to my true self and make space for becoming something new.
Awareness. Acceptance.
Space. The gap between the trigger and my response.
My new narrative and aligned aciton.
“Every time you find yourself following the manual instead of writing the manual, you are avoiding the anguish and giving in to the resistance.”
