How special it is to share something you love deeply with a friend who entirely gets it and loves it just as much….

It’s a gift of life to find people you love and to connect, build, and share together; I’m always so grateful for belonging and community and the circle of friends that catches, celebrates, and propels me.

This week, I got play music, twice, with one of my bestest friends, Shawna, and it’s deeply fulfilling and enriching in so many ways, because it’s made up of so many important, treasured elements to me! First, there is excellent company and companionship, stories and connecting, shared memories and laughter. Friendship of care and common ground, respect, empathy, and fun. And there is also mutual passion, a love for the world of music we both live in and have devoted ourselves to, though in different ways. This makes it really fun because we have different backgrounds and levels of knowledge and experience, so we kept finding out we were approaching the piece and the session from super different angles. Musically fascinating to me — I told Shawna I felt like I’d entered the amazing music matrix. We can learn so much from each other! I think our differences and unique orientations, thanks to our experiences and prior training/exposure, are a great strength and make us a cool team. We agreed we’re Better Together, which was the name of the song we were arranging and working on together. 😊

My forever takeaways, true in every season, the through lines that carry me and weave together the story of my life:

1) Connect with your web, love your loved ones and let them love you back, spend time together, and soak up every ounce of belonging. We’re really better off together. 🕸️💓

2) Do what you love, do not deny the dreams inside you, pursue your craft, let your passions light up your heart with a burning love and your face with a bright smile, fill your days with what matters to you. This is what your life is meant for. 🎼🎵
