little joys

I adore this art and poetry by Cailin (@cayswords)…

We must not expect happiness only to be a massive, loud, bold thing, excluding the possibility for all that is tiny but powerful, already sprinkled throughout our lives.

What if your happiness is sitting, waiting, tucked into the corners of your days?

What if it’s in the small surprises and gifts you encounter constantly but do not give enough attention?

What if by embracing daily little joys — everyday magic — in mundane and delightful moments, we can unlock the door to the enchantment and whimsy we are looking for?

It can be grand gestures sometimes.

But it can also be small treasures, like a mug of tea, a flower or butterfly, the cotton candy sunrise, paying attention to people around you and little exchanges and smiles, just looking up, dancing with your dog, a hug and the smell of home, a warm fire on a cold day, oatmeal with just the right toppings, your favorite song, your own breath, making something you are proud of…

What would you add to the list?

Are you finding the everyday little joys lately?

Please share! Writing them down and reflecting helps bring them front of mind and keep our focus centered on what is positive in our lives.

Lots of love,

P.S. Here’s a little list of little joys I am grateful for, written earlier this week, to keep the noticing going! (Because, don’t forget, we must “look closely.”)

  • snow fall that looks like a snow globe or a movie, too perfect to be true

  • experiences in my life, for growth and variety in my story

  • intentional action and paying attention (and the results), whenever I remember to keep space for it

  • smiles. A smile is something I can do anytime. An offering to the world and myself.

  • a warm voice, kind words. Connection.

  • my breath. Nervous system regulation. Hello, Now.

  • Blue Dog snuggles

  • my health
